There's a new running technique that's gaining mention among runners nationwide, and Sheridan athletes will get a crash course Saturday. Damian Stoy, a certified Chi Running instructor and founder of Wholistic Running in Bozeman, says running injuries are often caused by unnatural stresses and weight distribution on the body. He says Chi Running can increase running efficiency and reduce injuries.
Stoy went on to explain most adults have modified their running stride to an unnatural extent that can tire them out or even cause injuries. While there are several established programs that focus on helping runners achieve a more efficient form and stride, Chi Running has a technique and philosophy all its own.
Stoy will be the instructor at a workshop Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at Foot of the Bighorns. The hour and a half workshop doesn't require a lot of physical activity, and will delve into the details and philosophy of Chi Running. To sign up or for more information, call 673-7500.
