As reported in first news this morning, Liz Cheney has dropped out of the race for U.S. Senator. She was trying to out-seat long-time U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, also a Republican from Wyoming. She's dropping out due to serious health issues that have recently arisen with the family. That was the reason released this morning in a statement issued from her campaign office. Though the campaign stops today, she said, her commitment to keep fighting for fundamental values that make the nation great will never stop. Cheney is the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney. She moved her family to Wyoming from Virginia to run for the seat. Her effort, however, to replace Enzi, a Senate veteran, angered and upset many Republicans and her campaign faced a number of problems. In November, she publicly opposed gay marriage, sparking a public feud with her sister, Mary, who is a lesbian and married.
