The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce presented their 2009 awards during their monthly luncheon Wednesday.

The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce sponsors programs like Leadership Sheridan and legislative forums, but every December they get together to honor some of their own. The Chamber members vote to give four awards each year including Volunteer of the Year, Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year, and the Schmoozie Award. That last one goes to the person who can always be counted on to be there to promote their business wherever and whenever possible. This year’s Schmoozie is Joey Puettman of Joey’s Fly Fishing.

Chamber Executive Director Janelle Martinsen says 2009 has actually been a pretty good year in Sheridan.

Business Persons of the Year were Butch and Andy Kennah from KASSI Catering. The Business of the Year Award went to First Federal Savings Bank. The Chamber members chose the Vertical Church to receive the Volunteer of the Year award.

The awards were announced at the Chamber’s monthly luncheon held at the Sheridan Holiday Inn. Starting next month the luncheons will move to the Historic Sheridan Inn on Broadway.
