It's still October, but the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce is already gearing up for the Christmas Stroll. 12-year-old Kailee Becking was announced as the winner of the Christmas Stroll Button Design Contest Monday.
After accepting her award from Mayor Dave Kinskey at City Hall Monday afternoon, Becking explained her stroll button design.
The drawing that will go on all stroll buttons this year shows a reindeer wearing Christmas decorations walking on a path.
Becking, a 7th grader at Sheridan Junior High School, said she wasn't sure yet if she would spend her prize - $100 in Chamber bucks - on Christmas presents or something else.
The Christmas Stroll had nearly 100 businesses participate last year. Winners matching stroll button numbers with store numbers win prizes valued at $50 or more.
Winners are also entered into a drawing for $1,000 in Chamber Bucks drawn the day after Christmas.
The Stroll is held downtown each year on the day after Thanksgiving, kicking off the Christmas shopping season in Sheridan.
