News of Sheridan's rough weather a few weeks ago must be getting around, as the community has recently attracted a slew of roof and car repair businesses from out of town.
The Chamber of Commerce wants to remind people of Sheridan who are still working to get their hail damage repairs done to watch out for scams. Chamber CEO, Dixie Johnson.
The Chamber advises Sheridan residents to read the “fine print” before entering into any contracts and avoid giving money on the spot. Most reputable companies will only require a small down payment to get started with their work. Some companies also claim to be the only company an insurance provider approves. Any similar claim should be verified by an independent source.
Johnson said if possible, it's preferable to hire a local contractor who will probably be around long after the work is done.
The Chamber of Commerce can also provide advise and guidance to claimants who want to verify the background and reputation of a business.
