Court Appointed Special Advocates, an organization that uses volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in custody of the state, is looking for volunteers.
CASA will begin training sessions Thursday, October 20th. Jo Forbes, CASA Coordinator at Child Advocacy of the Bighorns, explains.
Volunteers will familiarize themselves with cases and needs of children they work with, and attend meetings and court hearings. They will then write reports to the court to advocate for the children.
Forbes said Sheridan- and Buffalo-area residents are welcome. Volunteers must be 18 or older, pass a background check, be able to work on their own and have an interest in working with children.
The meeting on the 20th will be held at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library.
Classes will be held from 6 to 8 pm November 8th, 10th, 14th, 16th and 17th. For more information call 675-2272.
