The Cowboy Carousel Committee had a successful fundraiser on Kickstarter recently, raising more than their goal of $25,000 to help in their dream of moving the Cowboy Carousel to a new home, the Cowboy Carousel Center to be housed at the Historic Beutler Building on North Lobban Avenue.
The vision is to restore the existing building to have a community education center with office space, classrooms and space to rent for events. The carousel will be housed in an adjacent, new building specifically for that purpose.
Now that their first goal has been met, Carousel Committee member Arnette Tiller explains where their focus now turns.
Simultaneously, painting, installation of lighting, and general upgrades to the Beutler Building will be done as well, with the goal of classes being taught at the center by the summer of this year.
Events have already been scheduled for this spring and summer at the center.
The plan is for the entire complex; classrooms, offices, and the carousel building with the carousel housed inside to be completed by the summer of 2014.
