Thursday morning more than a dozen volunteers descended on the Buffalo Senior Center to begin packaging donations to Caring and Sharing, Toys For Tots, and the many other programs that help those in need during the Holiday Season.
Sally Frost, with the senior center, and a volunteer who helps organize the Caring and Sharing programs, said the donations were compiled Thursday for parents to pick up Friday and Saturday, and Toys For Tots donations will be available for pick up at the same time, and
donations from the Hat and Mitten Tree and Christmas Book Drive will be added to the gift packages as well.
Frost said the different volunteers, the senior center, the Chamber of Commerce, 4H and FFA, and all of the other organizations have been helping the community for a lot of years, and the help is still needed.
Frost said she hopes the fewer number of those requesting help this year means that the local economy is improving, but she did say it could simply be that families have moved away for work elsewhere or that some didn't or couldn't sign up for help.
For those that may have been missed, she encouraged them to contact her at the Buffalo Senior Center at 684-9551 or the Chamber of Commerce at 684-5544 for help.
