Burns: No Invasive Aquatic Species Statewide

Sheridan County State Legislator Bruce Burns said the Invasive Aquatic Species control program in Wyoming has been a resounding success.

Public education and boat inspections have kept unwelcome visitors, such as Zebra Mussels, New Zealand Mudsnails and foreign aquatic plants from disrupting Wyoming's aquatic ecosystem.

These invasive species cannot travel upstream, said Burns, so as long as the state maintains a strong preventative program, the natural aquatic habitat and ecosystem will be maintained.
