The American Cancer Society will have its Buffalo Relay For Life events this Friday and Saturday at Buffalo's Washington Park, and this year will be bigger and better than ever, with new events and more fun planned during the two-day relay.
The Relay Rally will kick off the weekend Friday evening at 9pm, and will include the annual Luminaria Ceremony, music and refreshments.
The Relay events will continue Saturday with the “Finish The Fight Fun Run” that will offer a 5-Mile Fun Run, a 5-Mile Challenge Walk, or a 1-Mile Fun Walk through Buffalo.
Afterward, a community BBQ will feature food, refreshments, music and games.
Monica Burridge, with Relay For Life, explains why they chose to offer some new events year.
Burridge said she feels it is important to participate in these types of events as most people will be touched by cancer at some point in their lifetime.
The Relay For Life events raise money for cancer research, and help cancer patients with services and programs through the American Cancer Society.
