Buffalo's Oktoberfest A Bigger Success, Says Chamber

Buffalo's Fourth Anuual Oktoberfest celebration was this past Saturday, and was another big success according to the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, organizers of the event.

Angela Jarvis, Executive Director of the Chamber, said it was fun had by all.

In addition to the petting zoo; food, art and other vendors; there were a number of small brewers competing for the best beer as chosen by judges and by those attending. There was the Tour De Lure costumed bicycle ride which yielded various prizes for the kids, and of course, lots of beer.

More than 42 beers were submitted in the categories: pilsner, wheat, stout, porter, pale ale, lager, IPA and amber ale.

Winners were: Daron Gruner in the pilsner and lager categories; Mike Braunberger for wheat; Paul Cote for stout and India Pale Ale; Paul Dickerson for porter, and Ernie Smith for pale and Amber ales.

Also a winner Saturday was Thom Gabrukiewicz, whose name was drawn for the New Belgium Brewery's giveaway of the “fat tire' bicycle by raffle.

Jarvis said next year's Oktoberfest will be bigger, better, and will have new sponsors and more exposure than previous ones.
