A months-long process is one step closer to completion after interviews were conducted Monday for the new Buffalo City/County engineer position.
Three candidates were interviewed by the hiring committee entrusted with the duty of selecting the best available candidate.
On the committee are Randy Dyess, Smokey Wildeman, Rob Yingling, Montgomery, Scott Pehringer, Les Hook and three engineers from the area: Craig Shavlik, Jim Martens and Brent Bennett.
Buffalo City Planner Zach Montgomery updated the city council Tuesday on where the process stands and what the next step will be.
Mayor Randy Dyess will take the information and make a recommendation to both the City Council and County Commission for their approval.
The engineer will become a City employee and expenses will be split evenly between the City and County.
