Buffalo's new waste water treatment plant has missed the original substantial completion deadline of November 8th, but a new completion date has been set for the end of November.

At last week's city council meeting, States West Engineer Brooke Stromer gave an update on the new plant, saying there have been a number of unforeseen problems that have forced the contractor to push back the date of completion.

Stromer said the main problems surround the installation and testing of the new HVAC system at the plant, and there could be more delays once the system is up and testing begins. Or, he said, it could work the way the engineers designed it and the plant would be substantially complete at the end of the month.

City Works Director Les Hook has been overseeing the project since the beginning; he gave an update this week that backs what Stromer told the council last week.

Hook said the engineers, the contractor and the City will know more about where the project sits in the next week to ten days.
