Buffalo Treasurer: Vehicle Registrations Down in February

The number of registrations for automobiles, trailers, four-wheelers, boats and other vehicles were down in February, according to Johnson County Treasurer Carla Faircloth, who gave the information to the County Commissioners at their meeting last Tuesday.

The economy, Faircloth said, may have something to do with the low numbers of registrations.

The 1,500 registrations still left on the books all came due in February but were not renewed, Fairclothe said.

In other County business, the commissioners passed a Resolution allowing employees the option of Payroll Direct Deposit, and that will begin as soon as the necessary paperwork is processed.

Grizzly Engineering will be designing a new building that will house the new Buffalo/Johnson County Joint Recycling Center to be built on Butte Avenue behind the Econolodge.

And Jim Maertens submitted his resignation from the Airport Board, which the commissioners accepted. They will now begin advertising for persons interested in the position to submit a formal letter of interest and other necessary paperwork.
