At a ceremony Saturday morning, the Clear Creek Trail System's newest trail, the Grouse Mountain Trail was officially dedicated.
Although the trail was completed last fall, the Buffalo Trails Board decided to hold the dedication cermony this past weekend.
About 50 people were on hand to witness and take part in the ceremony including representatives from the US Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, the City of Buffalo and the Trails Board, who all spoke briefly about the great trails system the city has and the cooperation between the entities that made the new trail a reality.
Bill Cooley, Chairman of the Buffalo Trails Board, dedicated the new trail in a brief speech.
Bill Mentock, former Trails Board member and namesake of one of the trails, said the new Grouse Mountain Trail is another great addition to the city's trail system.
After the ceremony some of those on hand christened the new Grouse Mountain Trail by enjoyed a hike on the 5.2-mile addition to the Clear Creek Trail System.
Information and maps of the trail system including the new addition are available at the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce.
