At their last meeting the Buffalo City Council was updated on the status of the new Sports Fields Complex by City Planner Zach Montgomery.
Montgomery, in his written report, said O'Dell Construction has completed installation of all underground utilities and the ball fields have been prepped for seeding this spring. O'Dell, he reported, is on shut-down for the winter until warmer weather this spring.
Rocky Mountain Power has power to the site as of January 15.
Councilman Russ Humphrey asked about lighting at the ball fields and Montgomery explained where the lighting issue now stands.
The foundation and bases for the lights have been installed and wiring has been run to each base, he said, so when the lights are finally purchased and are ready to be installed, they will be an easy retrofit to the existing bases.
The ball parks may have to go a year or two without lights, he said, but the majority of games will be played in the summer months when daylight is available well into the evening hours.
Fundraising with the baseball/softball and soccer leagues as well as pursuing local sponsorships will hopefully help immensely with purchasing lights, scoreboards and other amenities, Montgomery said.
