Buffalo City Planner Zach Montgomery gave a report to the City Council at their last meeting, updating them on the various projects he is currently working on and what will begin shortly.
Montgomery said he will be helping the county come up with a Capital Improvements Plan. He will be getting the City Planning and Zoning Commission moving forward on the rewrite of the Comprehensive Master Plan for the city. And finally will be working with the Town of Kaycee to help them with their grant application for the Countywide Consensus Funds for the town's street project.
Discussions about the proposed convention center/community building and whether it should be located at a downtown location or at a fairgrounds site were had with Montgomery saying he backed a site downtown, as do downtown business owners.
The site at the old Clear Creek School was also discussed as a possibility but no decision by the Johnson County School District has been made concerning that site, and additional meetings to gain public input on uses for the site have yet to be scheduled.
The school district, city and county representatives and consultants are all currently working on finalizing plans and coming up with a game plan for those pubilc meetings, which are expected to be scheduled by mid-April, according to Montgomery.
