The Northeast Wyoming Municipal Leaders group, or NEWY, hosted a fact-finding mission for representatives of Congressional leaders and other decision-makers from around the country.
The idea was to show off Wyoming's energy and tourism industries and give them first-hand observations of how the two can work together and not scar the landscape like.
After last week's tours, Buffalo Mayor Randy Dyess said he believes the tour was successful in changing some negative perceptions of the mineral industry.
He describes the visit.
Dyess said the staffers are where they wanted to concentrate their efforts, and he explains why.
Dyess was asked if he thought the money and effort were well spent on the NEWY Tours.
The next tour, if NEWY decides to move forward with it, will be in two years, Dyess said, which will give the group the opportunity to debrief, discuss the good and bad aspects of this tour and then begin to plan for the next one, taking what they have learned and applying it to any future tours.
