The Johnson County Library will offer a program entitled “Tamers: Women Who Built the West” this Friday at 7pm.
Cynthia Twing, library director, tells us what the program is about and why the library is presenting it.
Dorene Ludwig will be using first-person vignettes to examine and showcase women's contributions to the “taming” of the American West. She created the program and will portray, among others, Esther Morris, Wyoming's first female justice of the peace; Elizabeth Ney, artist; and Calamity Jane, teamster, guide and legend.
Twing explains who Ludwig is and more about the program itself.
Ludwig is the artistic director of the American Living History Theater in Greybull. She has appeared in one-woman productions all over the country, and has also served as a trainer for NASA, the US Army, the National Park Service and other organizations.
The program is presented by the Wyoming Humanities Council and sponsored by the Friends of the Library. For more information on the presentation, contact the Johnson County Library at 684-5546.
