Fire mitigation in Mosier Gulch west of Buffalo will begin later this fall, after a Memorandun of Understanding, or MOU was signed between the City of Buffalo, Johnson County, the Bureau of Land Management and private landowners in the area.
Jennifer Walker, with the BLM, explains the Hazardous Fuels Reduction Project in Mosier Gulch.
The project has been a collaborative effort between the BLM, Johnson County Fire District #1, the county, city and private landowners.
Fuel breaks will be implemented along Highway 16 West, around homes in the area, and in and around the gun club. Although this project will begin sometime this fall, the entire project will take a number of years to complete, depending on weather and conditions.
Walker explains further.
