The Brock Street Sidewalk/Safe Routes To School Project got one step closer to completion on Thursday as the City of Buffalo held a bid opening at 2 pm in City Hall.
The bids came from nine different engineering firms, all hoping to be awarded the planning phase of the project. Buffalo City Planner Zach Montgomery explains what the bids were for.
Montgomery and a selection committee will discuss and choose which bids they will then recommend to the city council to award the contract from.
The decision for the contract award should not take long, he said.
Montgomery said construction should be completed before the start of the 2011-2012 school year.
