Buffalo Council Gives Approval of Main Street City Signage

Marie Verger, with the Buffalo Downtown Association (BDA) approached the Buffalo City Council at their meeting Tuesday to ask for approval to put signage on Main Street designating Buffalo as a Main Street Community.

She explained the request to the council.

The only concern raised was by the Chamber of Commerce, who is working toward placing a Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid Bronze Sculpture on that corner, and were concerned the sign might interfere with the bronze.

Verger said the signage will be placed farther back from the intersection, closer to the entrance to the parking lot on the corner, to direct people downtown instead of turnig west toward the mountains, so it would not interfere with the chamber's project.

Approval will be needed from WYDOT as the sign will be placed in their right-of-way along Main Street, but once approval is given by the state, the county is expected to approve the signage project as well.

If all goes as planned, a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony is tentatively scheduled for early August, according to Verger.
