Johnson County Library Director Cynthia Twing and Assistant Director Mary Rhoades gave a presentation to the Buffalo City Council this week to update them on the status of the library's expansion project.
They showed an architect's floor plan of the existing and the new sections of the library and explained where all of the separate areas will be located.
The existing library is roughly 10,000 square feet and the new addition will be 10,000 square feet, so the new facility will double in size, they said.
The entrance will move from its current location in the parking lot to a new area accessible from North Adams Avenue.
The ladies tell us a little more about the design of the building.
The county commissioners have approved the library putting its expansion project on the ballot in November of this year, to have voters decide if they will approve an additional one-cent sales tax to fund construction.
Once the money needed for the project is raised, the tax will go away.
The library board and staff will be educating the public on the additional one-cent tax proposal between now and the November elections.
