Buffalo Council Extends Lease of City Land

At the last city council meeting earlier this month, Buffalo City Attorney Ben Kirven brought a lease extension agreement for the council's approval.

The lease, between the city and Joel White, is for use of 40-odd acres of city-owned property located at the old landfill site off of French Creek Road, known as the Northridge Greenbelt.

White has pastured a limited number of cows on the land over the last year, and they in turn have helped with fire mitigation by keeping grasses down on the property.

The extended agreement is identical to last year's lease, Kirven said, and he recommended the council approve the agreement, based on what he called “glowing reports” from City Works Director Les Hook.

The council approved the extension.
