Buffalo Council Approves YMCA, Baseball Requests

Buffalo City Council
Buffalo City Council

The Buffalo City Council, at their last meeting, approved a request, with conditions, for maintenance to be performed at the city-owned YMCA building.

The request was for asbestos-removal work to be performed in the pool area.

The Council discussed the issue, raising concerns that asbestos removal was a complicated task that requires the involvement of the Department of Environmental Quality to ensure it is done properly.

The cost of the removal was estimated at $7,700 by the contractor willing to do the work.

The Council discussed the issue further.

Finally the Council agreed to the asbestos removal, pending DEQ approval of the project.

Also at the meeting, the Buffalo Youth Baseball organization requested the Council approve traffic control in the area of Prosinski Park this weekend during their tournament, and the Council and Police Department agreed.

Also approved by the Council was Weber Concessions to run the concession stand at Prosinski Park during the baseball season, and Trudy Schoonover was approved to run concessions at the softball fields at Centennial Park.
