At Tuesday's meeting, the Buffalo City Council approved a request from Angela Jarvis with the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce to close Main Street for the annual Halloween Monster March.
The closure will affect Main Street from the Fort Street intersection south to Angus Street and will be in effect from 4 to 6:30pm the evening of October 31st.
The closure request was prompted by the growth of the Monster March over the last few years, with 850 kids participating last year alone, according to Jarvis.
With those numbers, the Chamber and the Buffalo Police Department came to the conclusion it would be safer for the kids and better logistically to just close Main Street during the event.
The Monster March gives children and their parents a safe alternative to trick-or-treating neighborhoods as they walk up and down Main Street in their costumes, trick-or-treating area businesses from both downtown and elsewhere who line the sidewalks handing out their goodies. Kids from all over Northeast Wyoming participate every year.
