Buffalo Council Adopts New Substance Abuse Policy

Buffalo's City Council, at their last meeting, adopted new drug and alcohol testing policy which will bring them in-line with Worker's Compensation rules. City Attorney Ben Kirven explains further.

The city had similar policies already in effect, Kirven said, but these provisions modernize the wording in them.

The City of Buffalo will look into an entity like Volunteers of America to perform training and testing he said, but will have to make sure it is cost effective, because changing a policy to save money on a premium only to spend more on training and testing does not make much sense.

The council voted to accept the changes to the City's drug and alcohol testing policy and passed Resolution No. 1333.
