Buffalo City Planning & Zoning Updates

City Planner Zach Montgomery updated the Buffalo City Council on numerous projects he is overseeing at this time. Johnson County News Director for Sheridan Media, Aaron Palmer, has more.

Montgomery said the Development Review Committee will meet Tuesday to discuss them. He explains.

The meeting will be today at City Hall beginning at 2 pm.
In other planning news, the Buffalo Downtown Plan, he said, has effectively removed the carousel from the plan, but there has been a third option added to the possibilities for the Crazy Woman Square Plan.

Option 1 is to do the upgrades to the square while permanently removing Fetterman Street. Option 2 would move Fetterman from its present location to against the Hitching Post building and making it a one-way street running east. And the newly-added third option would keep the square and streets as is.

Montgomery said he is waiting for maps from the US Census Bureau to update them with annexations that have happened since 2006, when the last update was done.

The citywide curb and gutter project that the City was applying for grants to complete, was put on hold for now, Montgomery told the council, and Dave Spencer with the Wyoming Business Council advised him the City should complete a Capital Improvements Plan and reapply for funding during the next budget cycle.

And the Safe Routes to School/Brock Street Project will have the bid openings January 13th at 2 pm in City Hall.
Montgomery said that eight or nine proposals had come in so far.

The Environmental Assessment has been submitted to WyDOT for approval and the City is waiting on notice to proceed with construction this spring with a tentative completion date of August 15th of this year.
