The Buffalo City Council will have their first meeting of 2011 Tuesday at 4 pm in City Hall. Aaron Palmer has this preview.
Mayor-elect Randy Dyess and councilmembers-elect Russ Humphry, Stan Lakin and Bill Hawley will all take their oaths of office to begin the meeting.
Dyess said he doesn't feel the mayor's chair will be much different or that he will do things much differently, as he has experience on the council. But, he said he would like to see the city move in a different direction.
After Dyess officially takes office, his first duty as mayor will be to make his appointments to the positions of Vice-Mayor, City Attorney, Police Chief, Clerk/Treasurer, Municipal Judge, Fire Chief, Safety Director, Building Inspector, and to various board positions: Animal Control Board, Pool Board, Buffalo-Johnson Recycling Center Joint Powers Board, Johnson County Solid Waste District, and the Mountain Plains Heritage Park Joint Powers Board.
The Council is then expected to designate the official Newspaper, Insurance Company and Depositories for the year.
Reports from the Department Heads will follow.
The meeting will be at 4 pm Tuesday at City Hall.
