Sheridan Media News Director for Johnson County, Aaron Palmer, has this report on the Buffalo City Council meeting.
The Buffalo City Council at their meeting Tuesday awarded the contract to build a new city shop to Geoff Spiering Construction of Buffalo.
The winning bid from Spiering was for $469,682, the lowest of ten bids received, up to a high bid of more than $733,000, according to City Works Director Les Hook.
The City has $475,000 budgeted for the project, Hook said, but between the construction bid and engineering costs, the project will cost slightly more than the budgeted amount.
Councilman Bruce Hepp asked about the heating system that will be installed in the new building, if there could be savings to the City by tapping into the existing heating system in the old shop, which the two buildings could share.
Engineer Jack Morey with JLM Engineering said they had looked into the possibility but rejected the idea.
Construction on the new City shop will begin in March and be completed by July 15, 2011.
