At their meeting Tuesday night, the Buffalo City Council accepted the resignation of City Planner Zach Montgomery, effective September 30th.
The council retired to a short Executive Session where they apparently discussed the resignation, came back into the general meeting and announced their intent to accept his resignation.
After the city council meeting, Montgomery explained what prompted his decision to resign his position.
Montgomery has worked for the City of Buffalo as planner for the last few years, moving here from Roswell, New Mexico to take the same position he left there.
Montgomery said he and his wife will be relocating to the southeastern US, but that he has no specific job waiting for him.
Montgomery will work through September 30th, and is expecting to help transition a new planner to the job in that time, although no one has yet been hired for the position.
