Coming up this Saturday at the Johnson County Fairgrounds is the 11th Annual Wild Bunch Luau, sponsored in part by Sheridan Media's very own Oldies 105-9.
The annual party, featuring a pig roast, music and beverages, has been a major fundraiser for the Wild Bunch, the Ambassadors of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce.
Angela Jarvis, Director of the Chamber of Commerce, and a Wild Bunch member, explains how the luau came about, and why.
From one pig roasted 11 years ago, the event has grown to roast more than six pigs and encompass over 400 pounds of all-you-can-eat pulled pork with all the trimmings, Jarvis said.
The luau is a family-oriented event, with face painting and hula hoop contests for the kids, music to dance to and lots of fun.
Music this year will be performed by the Pan Buffalo Steel Drum Band, the High Lonesome Willies, The Conduits and the featured band, Gun-Shy.
Tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce or at the gate and are $20 each for adults, $10 for those 6 to 20 and those under 6 are free with adult.
Jarvis tells us what one Wild Bunch beneficiary of funds raised will be.
Proceeds from the event will go back into the Buffalo Community in the various events sponsored by the Wild Bunch.
