Buffalo Chamber Warns Merchants of Possible Fraud

The Buffalo Chamber of Commerce is issuing a scam alert to their members and all merchants in the area. Fraudulent emails and calls have been targeting merchants claiming to be from NACHA, the electronic payments association, wanting information about the business.

Chamber Director Angela Jarvis explains the scam.

The e-mails appear to be transmitted from e-mails associated with the NACHA domain (@nacha.org), some with fictitious employees and/or departments, Jarvis said.

NACHA does not send communications about individual “ACH” transactions they originate or receive, she said, and these e-mails will sometimes have attachments or links to Web pages that host malicious codes and software.

Jarvis wanted all merchants to be aware and pass this information on to others as well.
