The Buffalo Chamber of Commerce is requesting that photographers of all levels of expertise submit their best work to them for a calendar that will feature Johnson County. Aaron Palmer has the details.
The chamber will take submissions until October of this year, said Angela Jarvis, Director of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce. She explains why they chose to do the calendar.
Jarvis said the calendar will be a fundraising effort to benefit the chamber, which will in turn benefit chamber member businesses.
Jarvis said the theme for the calendar is “Life in Johnson County,” and pictures should be taken in Johnson County, but left the interpretation up to the photographer. The photos should be from anywhere in Johnson County and feature happenings, events or scenery that is a moment in time in our local history.
Jarvis said prizes will be given out to those photographers whose images are used for the calendar, but details are still being worked out. She reiterated that she wanted to get the word out now to get people thinking about taking the photos for the calendar.
Submissions can be mailed, faxed, e-mailed or brought in, she said, and she hopes the notice will give everyone a chance to contribute.
