Buffalo Celebrates Veterans Day

The intersection of Fort and Main Streets was temporarily closed Monday morning as citizens from Buffalo, led by the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and delegates from Boys and Girls State celebrated all veterans past and present during ceremonies at the Veteran's Memorial Wall.

The ceremony began with the Parade of Veterans followed by the Invocation from Legion Chaplin Clarence Bishop.

Girls State delegates Taylor Ballek, Hannah Danielson and Baileigh Rodriguez performed the Flag Ceremony and the VFW Auxiliary gave the Wreath Presentation.

This year's address was given by Buffalo High School Student Hyrum Ruby, a 2013 Boys State Delegate.
He spoke about his appreciation for veterans, and the values he had learned from them.

He wrapped his speech with a poem he wrote to honor our
veterans.

The Benediction was followed by three volleys from the V-F-W and Legion firing squad and wrapped up with the playing of “Taps.”
