Building permits for new houses have picked up in recent weeks, according to Buffalo Building Inspector Toby Rhaodes, who presented his report to the City Council at their last meeting.

Rhoades said two new houses were permitted in the 4-J Subdivision and one in the Greenleaf Subdivision.
That makes nine new houses permitted since July of last year.

Rhoades said the city will be having their free cleanup days in June, but have yet to set dates for it.
The city will again pay for the cost of freon recovery in refrigerators, freezers and air conditioning units.

He explained more about the free cleanup days.

The city, county, and Lake DeSmet Conservation District will be working together to coordinate their free cleanup days in the city and county and the Conservation District's Hazardous Waste Pickup Day.
