The City of Buffalo was awarded a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the Wyoming Business Council last month, to pursue a Community and Economic Development Master Plan for the city, county and Kaycee.
Buffalo City Planner Zach Montgomery, who was instrumental in getting the grant, explains more about it.
Montgomery said the grant will also help with Johnson County's high unemployment rate by creating more and better-paying jobs. Another aspect of economic development is affordable housing, which the county is in serious need of. He said without affordable housing, there will be no economic development.
He explains why the master plan is important to development.
Once the city has the contract from the Wyoming Business Council, they will send out requests for proposals (RFPs), and Montgomery said he then expects to move forward with the project within weeks.
