The latest City of Sheridan budget work session Thursday focused on Capital Improvement Projects. City Engineer Lane Thompson stated that there has been a 45% reduction in CIP funding from 2010 to the upcoming fiscal year.

Thompson said that part of doing more with less has been in house design work on various projects, including last year's rotomill and overlay that actually landed the City a regional award from the American Public Works Association for innovation.

The new technique was used on Canfield Street near the truck stop in North Sheridan. Thompson said that despite all of the heavy traffic from semi-trailers, the street has held up very well.

Thompson pointed out that rotomill and overlay can add anywhere from 10 to 15 years to the life of the street.
