The City of Sheridan held the final of three budget basics meetings Friday that focused on the City's Public Works Department. Public Works accounts for about 36% of the City's General Fund budget.
41% of the Public Works budgetis spent on streets, and a big factor of that is snow removal. The City used 600 tons of ice slicer this winter, which is 15% more than what was used last year.
City of Sheridan Public Works Director Nic Bateson commended his staff for getting the most out of what's been a tight budget the last several years.
The Public Works budget for the current fiscal year is $5.6 million, which is approximately 20% more than the $4.6 million that is projected for fiscal year 2011-2012.
The City will begin holding budget work sessions in early May.
