Brooks Street and Its Possible Closure

Brooks Street and Its Possible Closure

At last week's Sheridan County Commissioners meeting, the results of the courthouse transportation analysis that was conducted by the consulting firm of Fehr and Peers out of Colorado were released. The analysis was done for safety reasons, and one of the primary concerns indicated by the consultants was that of the intersection of Brooks and Burkitt Streets.

The analysis also took a look at what issues if any closing Brooks Street permanently would cause to the other streets around the Courthouse.

That's Sheridan County Public Works Director Rod Liesinger, who said at last week's Commissioners meeting that since Brooks is a City Street, the final decision on whether to close the street rests with the Sheridan City Council. Sheridan Mayor Dave Kinskey says that the issue really hasn't been on the City's radar a lately.

County officials last week entertained the idea of perhaps holding some public input meetings about the idea in the future to hear what residents think about a possible permanent closure.
