One aspect of the Wyoming-Park reconstruction project in Sheridan is the removal of trees, some of which have been around for many moons. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter has more.

Sheridan resident Kay Schmitz has lived at 363 Wyoming Avenue for a little over two decades. What could be called a natural air-conditioner, a towering cottonwood tree was there when she moved in some twenty years ago. That all changed Wednesday, as the old wise tree had to come down due to the reconstruction project along Wyoming Avenue. I had a chance to chat with Kay just prior to the tree's last minutes.

Some of that good stuff that Kay referred to are the squirrels and birds that have kept her company over the years, and of course the aforementioned “natural air-conditioner”. The tree was estimated to be about 85 feet tall and approximately 90 years old.
