At the last Buffalo City Council meeting, the council approved on first reading Ordinance No. 1363, the annual appropriation, or budget bill.
The second reading is expected to be approved Tuesday and finally adopted later this month on third reading.
The budget, although still open to changes by the council, has been divided into three categories: general, capital improvements , and outside agencies.
The general portion, which encompasses law enforcement, animal control, mayor/council,fire, streets, and other general city business, has been allocated $7.2 million.
Capital Improvements, which has some carryover from previous years' projects that were not completed, has an allocation of $7.4 million.
Finally, outside agencies such as the YMCA, CASA, and the Jim Gatchell Museum will also received funding from the city. Although most did not get the exact amount applied for, the city will still allocate $552,157 to those outside agencies.
The total preliminary budget is $15.225 million for this year.
