The front lawn at Sheridan College was full as hundreds attended the traditional Boot Kick-Off which marks the beginning of rodeo week in Sheridan. Linda St. Clair explains the new location.

The free event began with the Best Out West Chili Fest. “Sacketts” took first place in the green chili division and Paul Sackett Haworth tells us his secret.

“Insendio” came in first in the red chili division and Sarah Kennah explains the name.

The Craft Brothers provided music during the afternoon and then the little cowpokes took their turn during the Stick Horse Barrel Race.

Now for the featured event, the Boot Kick-Off Contest. It's all about technique, slippery socks, and hard kicking. Emily Julian took third in her age division.

Tracy Dearinger has won the women's division of the Boot Kick-Off three times. She gives her advice.

Music by the “Powder River Boys” ended the night for this kick-off of the 81st Sheridan WYO Rodeo.
