Blood Draws for Health Fair Next Week

Johnson County Healthcare Center has teamed with Health Fairs of Wyoming to provide health screenings to residents of Johnson County.

Wyoming Health Fairs is a non-profit organization that provides low cost wellness screenings to Wyoming communities.

According to information provided by JCHC, health screening tests become more important as we age for early detection of treatable diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease, as well as a number of others.

Karen Sullivan, RN, and Patient Education Specialist with JCHC, explains what the advantage is to using the Health Fair screenings.

For those that aren't sure which tests they should get, Sullivan said there will be staff at the blood draws to answer questions, and there are fliers around town that explain what the different tests are and who should get them. But, she said, the best way to know for sure is to ask your doctor.

The blood draws will be available in Buffalo February 14-18 from 7 to 10am at the Johnson County Fairgrounds' Community Building and in Kaycee February 23 and 24 from 7:30 to 9:30am at the Kaycee Clinic.

Results will be available at the Health Fair on Saturday, March 12 from 9am until noon at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.

Sullivan said there will be a lot more to do at the Health Fair than just pick up your results.

Sullivan also said there would be fun activities for kids and healthy snacks and refreshments available as well.

For information on the costs of the various tests or the Health Fair in general, contact Karen Sullivan at the JCHC at 684-6320.
