The 1st Annual End of Summer Block Party was held on Grinnell Plaza Tuesday night. The focus? Recognizing community orginizations and giving them the opportunity to network with each other.

Organizer Dave Tarver has great intentions and it's all about sharing the burden.

A couple of church youth groups were there, face painting was available along with a dunk tank and large slide to entertain the little ones, a local politician was there trying to gather votes, gun rights advocates had their booth, and music filled the background.

A highlight for Tarver with Tuesday's event was to raise awareness of orphans in Ethiopia and to raise funds to send four men there to help.

It was great

Even though it was last minute, it was still great! Having an opportunity for kids were alcohol was not present was a wonderful experience. Thank you Dave and others for helping make Sheridan a better place for kids last night!
