Thanksgiving Day found a group of volunteers giving up their afternoon to serve a Thanksgiving Day feast to those less fortunate at the Homeless Shelter.
Coordinated by Bethesda Worship Center, over thirty individuals took time out to cook up different parts of the meal and deliver it warm and ready to go for the folks staying there.
Carrie Ballantyne has seen her share of hard times and has found that serving others helps take her mind off herself.
A large proportion of the population staying at the shelter are homeless veterans, but Larry Penrice, assistant director there, explains the shelter is home to many more.
Going and serving dinner at the Homeless Shelter might make some folks a little uneasy, as Ballantyne explains.
Close to forty less fortunate took part in the Thanksgiving Day meal.
