Yellow school buses dominated the parking lot of the Holiday Inn this weekend as over 500 students from across Wyoming descended on Sheridan for the Future Business Leaders of America annual three day conference.
With over 30 chapters statewide, FBLA prepares students for careers in business as it develops leadership, communication and team building skills. Big Horn High School has 23 students involved in FBLA and nine attended the conference.
Advisor Katherine Hecker said, “The conference is a culmination of our year of work in FBLA. These kids are awesome. They were really exceptional from an advisor’s point of view.”
Four Big Horn High School students garnered awards in the state competition making them eligible to attend this year’s national conference to be held in Nashville. Calli Robinson took first in the “Educational Career Portfolio;” Levi Hagerott took second in “Job Interview;” Cris Miller ended up with a third in “Introduction to Business Communications;” and Darien Gostas took second in “Public Speaking I.”
The first chapter of FBLA was chartered in 1942. Over a quarter of a million students are involved with FBLA. Sheridan High School does not have a chapter.
