Sixty-five musicians from Buffalo High School have been selected for a State Marching Band that will spend the next year preparing to march and perform in the 2012 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
BHS music teacher Chad Rose tells us more about the marching band and their accomplishments.
Rose said the Wyoming State Marching Band approached BHS about sending kids, because Buffalo had sent one or two kids every year, but the school explained that they would prefer to travel with a lot of kids if they were going to fundraise and do the other activities involved with the band.
So the school opened the experience to all musicians from this year's eighth grade through junior classes.
The kids will be doing fundraisers during the next year to help with the costs of traveling to New York.
The Johnson County School Board has already approved a district bus to and from the various rehearsals the kids will be required to attend during the next year. For those that would like to make donations toward travel expenses, Chad said they can contact him or Brent Rose at the high school.
