The Bighorn National Forest is proposing to continue livestock grazing on 43 allotments, covering nearly 386,000 acres, and conduct vegetation management through prescribed burning on approximately 15,000 acres. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement regarding domestic livestock grazing on Forest Service land was released for public review in September and Wednesday night there will be an open house to help the public understand the proposed action and to also take public comments.
BHNFS Planning Staff Officer Laurie Walters-Clark says that the open house will be a good opportunity for the public to learn about the actions in the Impact Statement.
The open house will be from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday evening in the Watt Agricultural Center room at Sheridan College. The deadline to submit comments on the draft statement is October 18, 2010.
