The Buffalo Downtown Association (BDA) is getting in on a new trend happening all over the country called a Cash Mob.
A Cash Mob is similar to a flash mob, but instead of dancing, people meet at a certain time and place and spend money, to help the individual business and the community as a whole.
Cash mobs are organized through social media sites like Facebook or Twitter.
Marie Verger, with the BDA, tells us what the intent of the Cash Mob is.
The idea is to show up at the business ready to spend $10 or $20 and give an economic boost to the business and the local economy.
The BDA will pick a different business every three weeks that will host a “Buffalo Cash Mob.” This week's mob will be Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at Artful Hands & Repeat Boutique at 17 N. Main St., downtown.
